Located north of the Johanesburg CBD, Sandton has become the commercial centre of Johannesburg, and by extension, South Africa.
The Sandton Melrose area stretches from Sandton Drive in the North to Empire Road in the South and covers the suburbs of Hurlingham, Craighall, Atholl, Inanda, Illovo, Dunkeld, Melrose, Parkview, Parkhurst, Saxonwold and Westcliff. The area is serviced by one highway, namely the N1 Western Bypass on the Eastern side of the area and main arterial routes being William Nicol, Oxford Road, Jan Smuts Avenue and Rivonia Road.
Johannesburg Zoo, Wanderers Cricket Club, Zoo Lake Sports and Leisure and James and Ethell Grey Park as well as nature trails and streams provide some beautiful open spaces throughout the area.
Excellent shopping centres in the area include Melrose Arch, The Firs, Hyde Park Corner and Rosebank Mall.
